Terri's been obsessing about her kids' jobs for a while, and now Nicole is joining her. How much pressure should we put on our high-school students to be gainfully employed?

Kids thrive on routines, but so do parents. So today we're complaining about having to deal with changes to our daily habits—and the best ways to bug other people until they fix things.
On our entertainment-themed Round 2, we return to our West Wing watch with the season 6 episode "A Change Is Gonna Come." We are very much looking forward to some changes (say, no more clunky explanatory dialogue for CJ?).
We also return to One Day at a Time for its new season, which just dropped on Netflix. We'll be watching one episode at a time, so don't spoil us, okay? On this week's "The Funeral," an abundance of celeb guest stars left us yearning for a focus on our fave family. We'll see if that happens next week on "Outside," and whether any change comes to West Wing on "In the Room."
If kids can sue their parents just for being born, do we need to be prepared to defend our every parenting decision in a court of law? If you'll all be on our jury, we'd feel better about it.
On this week's Roundabout Roundup, Catherine shares her brother's new shop for customized art that illustrates your life story (also on Instagram). Meanwhile, Nicole found another source for custom products: Formal gowns at JJ's House. And from Terri, a new way for you to appreciate our podcast and other online content at Hyperspace. Check us out there and toss us some AMPs!
And this and every week, we thank Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear every day.
Marie Kondo and her KonMari method are all over are social media feeds, thanks to her new Netflix show. So on today's Round 4, we discuss our tidying-up takeaways. In a nutshell: We're #KonMaybe. Also mentioned: Minimalist Joshua Becker on Young House Love Has a Podcast.
Nicole has a cold, and she's griping about how hard it is for moms to take a sick day. How come there's no such thing as the mom flu, equivalent to the man flu?
On our entertainment-themed Round 2, we paused our West Wing watch because the West Wing Weekly podcast took a detour from its episode-by-episode schedule. Instead, we talked Super Bowl ads and a very funny episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine (mentioned: this episode in the Extra Hot Great canon and a Nine-Nine themed episode of The Good Place podcast).
For next week, we hope to discuss West Wing's "A Change Is Gonna Come" from season 6. And we're thrilled that One Day at a Time is back on Netflix for its third season (see the trailer).
Today we're talking about talking on the phone—more specifically, helping our kids make their own calls to employers and insurance companies and other fun places. Why can't we do everything online, please?
On this week's Roundabout Roundup, Catherine's shouting out Aviation Exploring, which is giving her son an insider's view of aviation careers. Terri's going behind the scenes with the Dancing with the Stars pros on Instagram (Alan, Artem, Emma, and Sasha). And Nicole is finding surprising deals at RalphLauren.com.
Plus, we thank Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear every day of the week. |
