On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
On today's speed round, we debate the merits of good old-fashioned bar soap vs. fancy and fragrant body wash. It was two against one, but you'll have to listen to find out which won out. Do you have a shower-soap preference?

Our podcast is dedicated to the topics parents complain about, so we thought we’d discuss what can happen when you’re just overwhelmed with how much work parenting can be — physically, logistically, emotionally. Do you ever feel burned out as a parent? Are you already weeping in a dark room while you listen to this? Us too. Want more? Listen to the rest of this November 2016 episode.
On this week’s Roundabout Roundup, Catherine makes the case for checking luggage when you fly (mentioned: her shout-out of Wheresmysuitcase.com). Nicole has another funny Instagram account for us: Influencers in the Wild. And Terri's sipping her coffee-and-apple-cider substitute, Celestial Seasonings Cinnamon Apple Spice Herbal Tea.
Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear on every episode.
Just about any reality competition or game show would be way more challenging if you had kids in tow, so shouldn't we be earning cash prizes and bedroom sets for everything we do each day?
On today's Round 3, we're complaining about friends who postpone plans again and again, and about how to teach our kids not to be those people.
We weren't, in fact, ready, but both of our show watches have come to an end. The Good Place's series finale, "Whenever You're Ready," brought the series to a satisfying conclusion (Terri needed some convincing, but she got there). We appreciated the official TGP Podcast's final episodes, featuring series creator Mike Schur sharing a ton of background information about the making of the entire series.
Less successful and satisfying: The West Wing Weekly podcast's final episode on the West Wing series finale, "Tomorrow." Kudos to the podcast team on getting 30 (yes, 30!) WW cast and crew members to appear on their show, but it turns out we like our discussions to be a little more intimate. Next up, we are going to dive into something new and something old(er): Zoe's Extraordinary Playlist, which recently debuted on NBC, and Veronica Mars (hi, Kristen Bell!) from 2004. The latter has an accompanying podcast co-hosted by Helen Zaltzman of The Allusionist, so we'll check that out too.
When you return home after a vacation or some other disruption to your routine, do you unpack and re-combobulate immediately? Do you shove your suitcase in a corner and ignore it for a week? Or do you freeze, overwhelmed and unable to decide what to tackle first? We talked it out in this week's Round 1.

Terri's having a fight with her dentist. Nicole's always shopping around for a better one. Catherine lives in dread of being sent back to the gum surgeon. We're doing our best here to honor the concept of dentistry, but it's complicated. Are you a faithful dentist-goer?

Catherine got a worrisome letter from her daughter's school, and the fact that it turned out to be part of a giant clerical error didn't keep her from wondering if there shouldn't be a better way to deliver big bad news than a cold white piece of snail mail. But is there really any good way to get bad news about your kid? Want more? Listen to the rest of this October 2016 episode. |
