Our kids are older now and we encourage them to fight their own battles. But sometimes, mama bear has to step in and do some roaring and baring of claws (like Shirley MacLaine does for her sick daughter in Terms of Endearment.)

News about Amazon's new Halo health tracker got us complaining about giving up privacy in exchange for convenience. We don't necessarily want these gizmos for ourselves, but for other people in our lives? Maybe! Mentioned: NBA players' magic Covid-detecting rings.
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, two more episodes of Veronica Mars have us wondering why anyone lives in Neptune, really. The runaway bride from "The Quick and the Wed" had the right idea. Next week, we'll watch season 2, episode 16, "The Rapes of Graff" (another stellar title choice from these writers) and begrudgingly enter the ballroom for the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars without our dear Tom Bergeron.
The pandemic is terrible and we would very much like it to be over. But at least it's mitigated some awkward social situations, like home sales parties and forced waiting-room small talk. Let's keep some social events online forever. Mentioned: Our June episode on pandemic pivots we like, such as Zoom IEP meetings.
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
Maybe it's the four-hour plane ride. Maybe it's the old unhappy memories. Maybe it's some recent memories that aren't so great. For whatever reason, there are some places we'd really just as soon leave behind.
On Second-Listen Saturday, we share some fun moments from past episodes for your weekend listening pleasure.

On this week’s Roundabout Roundup: Catherine's excited about the brand-new Phineas and Ferb the Movie. Nicole's Instagram Minute returns with @grandmagetsreal and her Barbie-based creations. Terri recommends Robin Harms's novella You Can Thank Me Later, which she enjoyed on Audible. Mentioned: Phineas and Ferb the TV show on Round 2 back in 2017.
Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear on every episode.
Like so many parents right now, we're obsessed with meeting our kids' emotional needs as they return to school (as outlined in this New York Times article). Strategies include redecorating and a kitten.
In the complaint department this week, we gripe about videos that could have been emails, videos that take way too long to get to the point, and the inability to speed through a video like you can a web page... or a podcast.
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we watched two episodes of Veronica Mars that were mostly up-the-middle procedurals (Where's the witness? Who took the money?) with just enough bus-crash and Logan-on-the-bridge plot to keep things moving. Next week: S2E14, "Versatile Toppings," and S2E15, "The Quick and the Wed."
