Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. On this episode, we question the healthcare facilities available on the island, as well as the need for yet another hour of TV reminding us that people keep lying to Jin.
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 3, episode 19, "The Brig." Tomorrow, we'll continue with our discussion of a newer show, Only Murders in the Building.

Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.
Catherine's library find, Carrot Creatures: Make Your Own, came from the children's department, but we have concerns. Mentioned: So You Want to Be a Chef and The Jazzy Vegetarian. Terri's random recommendation is our coverage of the current season of Dancing with the Stars, recorded immediately after the episodes air on Tuesdays and available on YouTube. Here's week 2, "One-Hit Wonders Night." In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2019 on parenting hotlines we could use. Next week's lineup:
Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property, and currently, that's Only Murders in the Building. Last week, we complained about the schtick level, and now we have issues with the plausibility level, as the trio laughably escapes the billionaires' attention in the Velvet Room and then falls for an obviously bad business deal without a second thought. Mentioned: "Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?" (the patter song from season 3).
Next Wednesday, we'll continue with season 5, episode 4, "Tongue Tied." We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup.
Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. On this episode, we identify with Desmond's struggles to both predict the outcomes of his actions and bear the responsibility of keeping Charlie alive.
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 3, episode 18, "D.O.C." Tomorrow, we'll continue with our discussion of a newer show, Only Murders in the Building, season 5, episode 4, "Dirty Birds."
Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week.
Catherine's library find has a title that got her fuming: The Joy of Half a Cookie by Jean Keristeller with Alisa Bowman. It's meant to be a diet book that uses mindfulness and meditation techniques to promote weight loss. We think it would be much more joyful to just eat an entire cookie. Terri's random recommendation is a return to a previous pick, the one sec app. It's now added a website-blocker feature to its previous offering, a website-delayer, which turned out to be not enough to deter Terri from her Facebook video clips. In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2017 on raising our canine kids. Mentioned: Bluey, the cartoon dog, who is a blue heeler. Bonus content!: Check out our 15-minute recap of Dancing with the Stars, recorded immediately after the season premiere on Tuesday. Next week's lineup:
Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property, and currently, that's Only Murders in the Building. The start of season 5 was uneven: The shtick dial was turned up way too high in episodes 1 and 3, but episode 2 was a lovely look at Lester's life at the Arconia. Mentioned: Tony Plana (playing the doorman who mentored Lester) as grandfather Berto on the 2017 remake of One Day at a Time.
Next Wednesday, we'll continue with season 5, episode 4, "Dirty Birds." We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup.
Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. This episode continues to ask the same questions that have been brought up frequently already: Is Juliet "one of us," the castaways? Is she a victim or a victimizer? Might she be both?!
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 3, episode 17, "Catch-22." Tomorrow, we'll kick off our discussion of a newer show, Only Murders in the Building, season 5, episodes 1, 2, and 3. Here's what we're reading, recommending, and revisiting this week. Catherine's library find is a new nonfiction release that sounds like a novel, with a cranky, quirky female protagonist solving crimes. It's The Feather Detective: Mystery, Mayhem, and the Magnificent Life of Roxie Laybourne by Chris Sweeney. Terri's random recommendation is Dancing with the Stars season 34, which premieres on September 16. Every season, she decides whether or not to tune in based on who the "stars" are, and she's interested in a few this time. We won't be covering all the episodes here on the podcast as we have in the past, but check our social media for quick reactions. In the archives, we checked in on an episode from 2020 on what happens when Mama Bear comes out of hibernation. Next week's lineup:
This episode was recorded in front of a live audience ... of dogs.
Every Wednesday, we share our thoughts on a newer entertainment property, and currently, that's The Gilded Age. The season wrapped up with a plot-packed episode: Emergency, anesthetic-free surgery; two balls; a marriage proposal; a pregnancy reveal; and two Russell men tanking their relationships for questionable reasons. Mentioned: "It's Quiet Uptown" from Hamilton.
Next Wednesday, we'll return to another of our Manhattan-based faves. Only Murders in the Building returns for season 5! We'll watch the first three episodes (thereafter, we'll watch one a week). We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly roundup. This episode was recorded in front of a live audience ... of dogs.
Each Tuesday, we discuss an older entertainment property, and currently, that's Lost. Did we need more details about Kate's backstory and how it tangentially intersected with Sawyer's? Not really, but that's what we got, plus a hint of Juliet's duplicity.
Next Tuesday, we'll continue with season 3, episode 16, "One of Us." Tomorrow, we'll wrap up our discussion of a newer show, The Gilded Age. |
