What We’re Watching: World of Dance Callbacks and Veronica Mars “Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang”6/30/2020
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, it was callbacks week on World of Dance, in which we got to see (sort of) 10 groups vie for four spots in the competition. We also got to be dazzled by J-Lo's collection of blinged-out drinking cups. Next week: The duels (this episode airs tonight, June 30, but we'll be talking about it here next week).
On Veronica Mars, episode, things went south for Richard Casablancas in "Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang," but luckily he had a helicopter on stand-by. That makes two more parentless boys in Neptune, if you're counting. Next: "Green-Eyed Monster."

As Nicole's son gets ready to move into his (swanky) first place, we reminisce about a basement in Vancouver, a spacious abode in Kansas City, and an unlocked door in Manhattan.
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
We'd like to think we're good at writing and teaching and maybe even podcasting, but there are some jobs that are just not for us.
On Second-Listen Saturday, we share some fun moments from past episodes for your weekend listening pleasure.
There's a very fine line between encouragement and overselling, and between our kids' disappointment and our own. We try to walk it ... very carefully. (Shout-out to our live studio audience: Nicole's dog.) Want more? Listen to the rest of this May 2017 episode. Roundabout Roundup: How to College, Shiny Pretties on TikTok, and USPS Informed Daily Delivery6/26/2020
On this week’s Roundabout Roundup: Catherine learned How to College with a new book. Nicole found a nostalgic TikTok account called Shiny Pretties. And Terri's thrilled to get advance notice of what's about to arrive in her mailbox with the Post Office's Informed Daily Delivery service.
Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear on every episode.
Prompted by this wonderful Twitter thread, we reminisce about what we thought was fancy when we were kids, and wonder how our kids might respond to the same question.
A DIY project that didn't quite get DI-done prompted us to complain about all those times when, as parents, we should have made better decisions--but forged ahead anyway.
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, the World of Dance judges seemed a little grumpier in week 4 of the qualifiers, but we are still here for this mostly cheery show. Next week: the duels. Mentioned: Posts from Kristyn Burtt on WOD (and its pre-pandemic production schedule), Dancing With the Stars, and So You Think You Can Dance.
In Neptune, we cheered for Wallace as he solved his very own case on "Driver Ed." But we're definitely not cheering for all the love affairs or for the idea of Keith running for Sheriff again. Don't do it, Keith! Thanks to the Veronica Mars Investigations podcast for pointing out some important details that we would have missed. Next: "Cheatty Cheatty Bang Bang" (speaking of affairs).
Let's just say celebrations differ depending on who's planning them, as these tweets outline. Mentioned: Man Crates and Nicole's new vacuum cleaner (a Mother's Day gift that's still going strong).
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
This isn't one of those name games that uses the name of our childhood street or pet. We're just wondering whether we'd ditch our last names — which people find unaccountably confusing to pronounce — for something more mellifluous. |
