In our dreams, we would get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. But we never dream, because we don’t get that much sleep.

Our kids may nag us regularly about upgrades, but we're pretty content with our phones—cracks and all. Instead of our usual Speed Round, today we bring you a speedy Round 2 so we can cover Dancing with the Stars' Tuesday night edition—in which the first star is sent on her way. Plus, we got a preview of Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, coming next month. Your road map to this week's entertainment-themed episode: 00:30 Dancing with the Stars: Season 27 kicks off with an onslaught of sparkles and stars (some starrier than others). 16:10 The West Wing: We found this week's episode, "Full Disclosure," much more watchable than last week's. But the West Wing Weekly's guest was not as palatable. Tomorrow, we'll post a special DWTS Speed Round to talk about this week's elimination(s). Next Tuesday, we'll talk about DWTS, West Wing's "Eppur Si Muove," and (YAY!) the season 3 premiere of The Good Place. 00:31 Traffic Rant: Terri's tearing her hair out over the poor parking etiquette on her street. 13:36 Too Old to Fail: ...but too young to make smart decisions. That's the pickle we find ourselves in as our kids grow up and have to make life-determining choices. 34:34 Speed Round: Pop-Up Playgrounds: In these spaces, kids can build and create with fun materials. So we had some fun dreaming about what a playground for adults might offer. 47:28 Roundabout Roundup: Weight Watchers, tri-tip from Costco, and The Sky Below by Scott Parazynski. 53:48 Shameless Self-Promotion: "The Surprising Link Between Outdoor Learning and Classroom Behavior," Terri's blog Parenting Isn't Pretty, and Nicole's book Inclusion in Action. Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music. If you're reading this somewhere without hyperlinks, come to http://parentingroundabout.com for the full recap experience. Your road map to this week's entertainment-themed episode: 00:40 The West Wing: Terri had to pass on "An Khe," an episode loaded with false notes and overly easy drama. 09:45 Challenge Round: Elementary: Terri challenged Catherine to try this long-running procedural, which is fun to watch even with a quirky, always-cranky Holmes. Mentioned: Sherlock starring Benedict Cumberbatch. 16:16 Challenge Round: Fixer Upper: Catherine's challenge was this ubiquitous home-makeover show, which charmed Terri with its easygoing, funny vibe. Mentioned: Young House Love Has a Podcast. Next week, we'll watch West Wing's "Full Disclosure," and the season premiere of Dancing with the Stars. 00:32 Pet Roundabout: Time for a quick status check on the animal members of our households. 12:30 Safety vs. Strength: Do we want our kids to take risks in order to become strong? Would it surprise you to learn we can't answer such a black-and-white question? 30:47 Speed Round: Care Packages: College students get care packages. We think moms should too! 40:00 Roundabout Roundup: CleanMyMac, Dancing with the Stars, and Downton Abbey English Rose tea from Republic of Tea. 45:53 Shameless Self-Promotion: "What Not to Say to a Wound-Up Kid," Terri on WhenHub, and Nicole at Fire Foundation's Inclusion in Action 2019 conference. Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music. If you're reading this somewhere without hyperlinks, come to http://parentingroundabout.com for the full recap experience. |
