Last month, we shouted out our moms. So with Father's Day approaching, it's our dads' turn, as we tell you a little bit about the fathers who raised us. (Father's Day isn't until June 20, so you still have time to pick up your golf- or barbecue-themed card.)

We'd like to share some of the movies and TV shows we used to love with our kids. But some of it hasn't aged well, and some of it was scary then and is scary now. But the biggest problem is that it's associated with us. So embarrassing!!!
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we caught up with the Friends reunion show and got a case of whiplash in the process. It was quite a grab bag of segments, emotions, guest stars, costumes, and other miscellany.
On Veronica Mars, the concern is not whiplash but decapitation, as episode 2 of season 4 brought us our second severed head. We're hoping that's it, although we wouldn't be opposed to Alonzo and Dodie teaming up with Clyde and Nicole to take out some Fitzpatricks. Round 2 will return on June 22 with the HBO Max movie Let Them All Talk and Veronica Mars "Keep Calm and Party On."
Schools often teach teens important life skills like cooking and how to manage money. But we think they should also teach "How to advocate for yourself when your insurance company pulls a fast one" and "how to tell which YouTube fix-it video is legit."
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
Recently, we talked seriously about some possible additions to valedictorian in honoring high-school seniors. Today, we take a lighter look, prompted by former teacher Nicole who has been making her list.
On Second-Listen Saturday, we share moments from past episodes for your weekend listening pleasure.
We had to comment on this article, in which a mom claims not to miss even a minute of her kids' baby and toddler days. Mentioned: Our speed round on revisiting our younger selves. Want more? Listen to the rest of this August 2018 episode.
On this week’s Roundabout Roundup, Catherine is shouting out a company that was an early adopter of podcast advertising: Third Love and its very comfy bras and lounge wear. Terri finds the iOS app Scrap Paper super useful, and Nicole's been converted to the wonder of cord organization with cable clips by her techie daughter.
Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear on every episode.
Nicole's on a Mom Strike, and it's not working out so well. As fellow members of the Mom Union, we stand in solidarity with her in this time of need. (Also, someone please make her a sandwich and deliver it to her office.)
We jump off a recent chat about the school parent portal to complain about school behavior complaints and how hard it is to get to the bottom of what's really going on.
On this week's entertainment-themed Round 2, we watched a movie! We were both curious about Academy Award-winner Nomadland, and are pleased to have made the effort to watch it (free on Hulu, for rent elsewhere). It's a meditative, moving, compelling story, beautifully told. Next: Continuing our theme of "current, but not quite." we'll watch the Friends reunion on HBO Max.
Definitely less meditative and moving: Veronica Mars season 4, episode 1. We're back in Neptune! And so is Very Muscly Logan, Adorable New Dad Wallace, and Chronic Pain Keith, along with a new seasonal mystery: Who bombed the Sea Sprite Motel? Next: Episode 2, "Chino and the Man" (Terri hopes it will be about pants). |
