On Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, we got the back story on Zoey and Mo, Zoey and Max, Zoey and SprqPoint, and even David and Emily. And most delightfully, we got Peter Gallagher, since the episode was mostly flashback. Next: "Zoey's Extraordinary Goodbye."
From San Francisco, we headed south to Neptune for the fan-funded 2014 movie Veronica Mars. While it was fun to see the gang get back together, we didn't appreciate where it left Weevil, or the fact that beloved dad Keith had little to do. Next: We'll take a break from Neptune and check out Girls5Eva, the new series on Peacock with a cast that makes us optimistic (and a trailer that... doesn't).

Last week, we bragged about all the nice things we do for our kids. Today, we check in to see if they ever return the favor (even when it's not Mother's Day).
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
Catherine and Terri both have black thumbs, but Nicole ... ah, Nicole used to be a houseplant person. Listen to her sad, sad plant story. (Mentioned: her "Coming to America" miniseries.)
On Second-Listen Saturday, we share moments from past episodes for your weekend listening pleasure.
Our discussion of this article on parenting styles devolved into a plan for Terri and Nicole to build a trellis and Catherine to buy it. Want more? Listen to the rest of this June 2018 episode.
On this week’s Roundabout Roundup: Catherine urges you to read about Prancer the chihuahua, the "chucky doll in a dog's body" who was recently adopted (and now has an Instagram account too). NIcole's savoring a sweet treat: Sanpellegrino Aranciata Rossa (water flavored with blood oranges). Terri recommends following Kami Cotler, the actor who played the youngest daughter on The Waltons, for a nice dollop of nostalgia in your Facebook feed.
Thanks as always to Jon Morin for our fun in-and-out music, which you hear on every episode.
Our moms have taken their lumps on this podcast a time or two, so today we share some of the things we appreciate about them and what they've done for us. It's our Mother's Day gift. Mentioned: Storyworth.
Catherine complains about trying, and failing, to help her kid with schoolwork. Terri and Nicole offer a ton of helpful suggestions--most of which have already, well, been tried and failed. But they might help someone else! Mentioned: Our discussion on motivating kids to learn from last fall.
What We’re Watching: ZEP “Zoey’s Extraordinary Double Date” and Veronica Mars Season 3 Finale5/4/2021
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist returned after a short vacation and proceeded to meddle in and muddle up everyone's love life, including her own. Can't a heroine be happy once in awhile? Next: "Zoey's Extraordinary Session."
On Veronica Mars, at long last, we came to the finale of season 3, "The Bitch Is Back." While not one but two plot points were recycled (sex tapes! Secret societies), we did enjoy seeing Veronica up to her old tricks, smoking out bad guys and exacting revenge. Next: we'll watch Veronica Mars the movie and listen to the two Veronica Mars Investigations podcast episodes about it.
We list some of the favors and gestures we offer our kids just to be nice. Of course, "nice" is sometimes in the eye of the beholder.
On Speed-Round Sunday, we share a mini episode from our past for your weekend listening pleasure.
We long for the return of The Brady Bunch, thirtysomething, and Trading Spaces. (And also kind of butcher the Brady Bunch theme song.) |
